Must be my turn was the next call from the back deck. And to my surprise it wasn't Dyl but mum had been caught up in all the excitement and wanted her go.
Like they always say a watched line never bites! So once Jodie had finished sunning herself she moved inside for Lunch and.......
Out here girl here you go. While Denise clears the other lines.
No Marlin but a great fight and chance for Jodie to perfect her technique. How does Dyl make it look so easy she asked.
Welcome aboard Wally Wahoo.
Jodie with her first larger sized fish. Wally weighed in a little over 15kgs and was quickly carved up for Dinner.
The next day out Jodie was first up as she still hadn't landed a Marlin. After a slower than predicted morning we finally got a lunchtime bite. This one put on a great show Jumping and flying across the back of the boat.
Jodie was just getting into the motion when we saw what we thought was another fish come flying across the back and straight onto the line. SNAP....... where did it go? Jodie starts apologising to Ross about losing his lure then he just smiled and pointed at Lyndon. Yep, I put one lure out and she looses it, first time out too! That'll definitely cost her! Over a few beers later that night Ross and Lyndon decided it was the same fish but it had just done a big loop and came back on the line. Sadly it now has/had 4-500 meters of line and a huge peice of jewellry hanging out of it's lip.
Third time Lucky? It only took a few minutes into her second fish (for today) and after yesterday's Wahoo fight that she was in need of a glove to protect her dainty hands from blisters. Bit different when you have to wind in several hundred yards of line with a large fish attached. Hey Babe!
After a solid 30 min Jodie's glasses were fogging up from the sweat and Denise was on hand to keep her cool and sweat free.
Another fish on 24kg and a great bend in the rod but we hadn't seen this one so what was it going to be?
This video footage is a ripper the kids are so excited and Dyl called stripey!
In case you can't watch the video here is a (all be it a poor quality) snap shoot of Jodie's Blue Marlin being Tagged.
Congratulations on a team effort and another member to the Marlin club. Jodie's smile says it all.
Denise took credit for Jodie's hookup as she was on the wheel and decided to do a random 90 degree turn to excite any interested fish tagging along. Hence the girls headed straight back to the wheel house while Jodie waited for her well earned refreshing drink.
Again with the killer shotgun rig 24kg with Pink and White skirt.
Official estimated weigh in was 60kg Blue Marlin on 24kgs. Tagged and released.
