Tongan Navy Farewell

The Tongan Navy also put on a farewell for Lyndon and welcome for Jon. This was a lunch on our second last day and was a lovely afternoon. After more speeches, gift giving and feasting it was time to say the last goodbyes to the staff Lyndon had worked closely with over the last few years. The kids made the most of their last opportunity to swim in the basin at the navy base while the adults had a few quiet ales.

The Boys - my replacement Jon, Semisi, Lyndon, Dave and Hicee

No Navy function is complete without Kava....

...or some amazing singing when it comes time for grace.

Another quick impromptu speech by the Newest of Acting IC Navy Sione. Lyndon was presented a Ta'ovala and Kafa ( woven mat and belt)

Lyndon and Hicee (BTO) this presento (again designed and made by Lyndon) included a clock to remind the boys where they are supposed to be. "Timi faka Tonga" translated "Tongan Time". Just don't be in a rush.

Possibly the last of the hand made decorations we will see for some time.

Cheers Boys and Girls -  it's been great - a life changing experience for me and my family.
OFA LAHI ATU!
