Another last minute "must do" was a night over at Fafa Island. We had taken the kids there before on a day trip and I had been before to enjoy wonderful cocktail lunches with the TWISC ladies however, we never managed a night away together. Thanks to Aunty Karen and Uncle Mal who had the kids for the night, we packed up Blah Blah and headed over after work on a Friday night for some "alone time", a great little break from the packing and cleaning and socialising.
With only 13 fales on the island, it was definately a quiet relaxing time - even if for only one night. We were looking forward to some fabulous fine dining (which the island chef is famous for) however just our luck it was Island night, so traditional food and entertainment was the go. Oh well, it was great none the less.
All fales are traditionally built and this is a view up to the day bed which overlooks the ocean
A little nana nap in the day bed anyone?
Looking down into our room
The outdoor bathroom is a treat
Nothing like a "selfie" in a back to nature bathroom
Our lovely host Heidi upgraded us to the honeymoon suite - bless her!
Our private walk way to the beach
Looking back up to the fale from the beach
A little drop of Moet after our swim and before dinner
The band getting ready for the nights entertainment - with a full kava bowl of course.
Just supporting the locals with a bit of faka pale (the reward or gift of money)
Beautiful dancing as always by the ladies
And the men, although this one was not quiet as serious as the traditional dances
A framed tapa cloth on the roof, this is what we plan to do with my two tapa cloths
Looking back over to Tongatapu from Fafa Island during our evening stroll
The same view next morning
The deck where we had our beautiful breakfast
If you ever get to Tonga we definitley recommend at least one night at Fafa
