Located out at Silverdale, a 20 min drive from Auckland, Snow Planet proved to be a saviour on this particular day as it was the worst weather of our entire trip. Luckily, Snow Planet is an indoor snow field. Aunty Elwyn came up this this wonderful idea so off we went. The kids were very excited because the ski trip we took in August to Thredbo was still fresh in their minds, although Emily was a bit nervous because she was worried that she had forgotten how to ski. Although the pamphlet said gloves were compulsory (they only hired out jackets and pants) the kids managed to sneak inside without them. Emily lasted 1.5 hrs and Dylan for 2 hrs in -2 degrees, skiing down the slopes without poles because they had their hands in their pockets - little troopers. While the kids were having a ball and waiting patiently in line to get to the top, Aunty Elwyn and I made the most of our time sitting inside the restaurant by the fireplace having coffee and a chat. Once the kids had had enough, it was off to the nearest by Westfield for McDonalds and look around the shops (yeh - something for mum, but I only ended up buying things for the kids).
Looking like they remembered what to do.
Dylan was very keen to get out there, Emily took her time.
It was very busy inside but they managed to look after each other. The top of the picture is where the ski run down commences.
Dylan deep in thought and waiting patiently to get on the magic carpet.
Yeh, finally, my turn
Emily went to the top on the T-Bar.
The view from the top before they came down.
Here they come!
Who said they don't love each other???
